ADULT GUARDIAN

An Adult Guardian can be appointed a person's Guardian if:

There is no one else available to be a person's Statutory Health Attorney, or

When there is serious conflict between the person's family members and / or carers about the decisions that need to be made for the person, that the Guardianship and Administration Tribunal decides that it is in the person's best interests for someone outside their family and support circle to act as their Adult Guardian.

When making decisions that affect the person's health the Adult Guardian can take into account the views and wishes of the person and the opinions of family members, friends and others who support the person when decisions have to be made.
